Emotions
When
people talk about their emotions, they often refer to
them as feelings or sensations that arise from within
their body. If you become scared or excited, you will
feel “butterflies” in your stomach. If someone
says something nice about you, then you would say that
you were “touched” by what they said. People
speak in these terms because there is literally a touching
sensation occurring within the body as chemicals interact
with all of the cells of your body.
Your emotions mirror your mood
If you ever find yourself stressed, step back and will
notice your shoulders are tensed. This is because your
body has a different posture for every different emotion.
Keep
it real
Being able to honestly
express your emotions is a sure way to keep a healthy
mind. Since emotions are a thing, they need to be expressed
and not repressed. Suppressed emotions can become “bottled
up” and stuck in the body.
Positive ways
to express negative emotions
Talk to your best friend about them.
Write your feelings down in a daily journal.
Meditate
Play music, paint or write poetry.
Perform creative acts of movement such as exercise or
a competitive sports activity. |
